At this moment, 11:30 AM Pacific Time Zone, April 14th, 2010, level 50 in Treasure Isle IS the highest you can go. After that there are no islands left to do.
This is confirmation that you can’t go past it. A moderator from the Zynga forums has agreed that level 50 is the level cap, however the Treasure Isle staff is implementing new features, islands, etc. I’m sure we will see more available for the players who advance quickly pretty soon.
My bet is within 3 days more updates will be released.
Among other things, the most recent issues with Treasure Isle is the load. Of course, this is to be expected with any new, successful game. I’m sure they are adjusting their servers accordingly and Treasure Isle will soon not experience trouble any more than farmville or mafia wars.

On April 6th and April 7th, the Treasure Isle team worked tirelessly to fix bug reports that players were turning in. But the work paid off! They fixed many of the problems that users were experiencing and put aside the initial issues.
“Treasure Isle was experiencing a wave of bugs, but the TI team protected us adventurers. Let’s dig!!! The wait is over…New Maps, expiring fruit, and no more “oops! Your treasure has been lost. Try again later.” Can you dig it?”
